We are ROAR.
A people focused non profit dedicated to supporting creative practices and promoting the arts in Rotherham.
We believe that art has the power to transform and enrich the human experience. We are committed to taking action that recognises creativity as a fundamental human right and a key to inspiring change.

ROAR is run by a small group of passionate people who believe that art is transformative and integral to the human experience.
Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance is a CIC, operating as a membership based infrastructure organisation within the voluntary sector. We are funded as an Arts Council's National Portfolio Organisation.

Who We Are
ROAR is an independent, non-profit arts organisation situated in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Our mission is to develop and sustain innovative, challenging and insightful art practice. We believe that we can help the regeneration by supporting the local creative sector in its professional development and rising ambitions, while also embedding the arts in the social & economic environment, enabling the sector to thrive and creative practitioners to earn a living.

What We Do
We wish to forge a robust, thriving art ecosystem, where the canon of what constitutes art has expanded. We strive for art to be understood and accepted as essential. We aim to build strong art networks and solidarities across Rotherham, with our narratives and discourse seen as part of the national art discourse. Further, through our engagement with important issues, we wish to help create a more equitable, empathetic society.

Our Studios
ROAR strives for a Rotherham that is flourishing with high quality creative activity across all communities and at every stage of people’s lives. We understand that you need space to be creative. For members, we have a variety of studio spaces available, as well as our own resource space that they can use. Resources like a project space with a laser cutter are also available to help students with their creative endeavours.
